Escaping Spirits

They had all done their duty.  They include all the forest creatures, big, small, fuzzy, hairy, beastly, beautiful and even bizarre.  Not just the creatures, even the smallest of spokes that keep the wheel of the forest turning, the leaves on the trees, the worms under the ground and the insects in the air.  Mother Nature, the great recycler that she is, created all of them from the deepest wombs in the jungle.  The creations, from the mightiest of the tigers to the tiniest of the insects, used all the energy that Mother shared with them to live within a body, see the jungle, feel the jungle and all the creatures that call it their home.   They did leave a few footprints, some remnants that reminded others of their individuality – but they know fully well that the great time and Mother herself will wipe them all out.   Life!  What a great temporary gift.  But now it’s time to bid them goodbye as their spirits escape into the darkness.

The setting sun is the time to reclaim these lost, tired and spent spirits, wandering on the last of their energy reserves.  They come out of their earthly shells, be it the branches of a rotting tree, the dry leaves of a thriving tree or the last remains of an animal.  As the sun sets on the forest floor, the spirits escape from their earthly chains and diffuse slowly into the darkness.   All these souls are treated to one fine fiery show as they depart into the dusk.  The radiance of the sun and clouds are matched and enhanced as more spirits merge within them.  Some evenings are more colorful than others purely based on the spirits merging into them. How Mother Nature stores all this energy and how it chooses to dissect and impart them to the new bodies, we do not know, for Mother Nature still preserves layers of mystery within her.

But one thing we know for sure.  As the husks of their earthly remains fall on the ground, Mother Nature claims them all through the night and as the sun rises, she distributes the same energy to new bodies, as fresh souls are born into the forest to keep the cycle going.  Life begins anew.
